Pultrusion is a cost-effective, continuous, automated closed-moulding method for high-volume manufacturing of objects with constant cross sections. Pulling continuous fibres through a resin bath, combined with a catalyst, and then into pre-forming fixtures, where the section is partially pre-shaped and superfluous resin is removed, is the basic process. It is then passed through a heated die, which determines the finished product’s sectional geometry and finish.
Pultrusion can provide good composite structural materials due to cross-section homogeneity, resin dispersion, fibre distribution, and alignment. In terms of strength and weight, the profiles generated with this method may compete with typical metal profiles composed of steel and aluminium.
